'Fixing' rehearsals

We're making good progress with some 'fixing' rehearsals now. Our new Tituba (photo below) has fitted in really well and is doing a great job. We just have to remember to bring some knee pads to rehearsals for her for when she's thrown about so much!

Had a bit of a block with the Act 4 John / Elizabeth scene last night and decided to come back to it at a later date. This is the pivotal part of the play and needs the actors to be mentally in the right place. We're going to have a fill rehearsal on this one bit soon. The John / Abigail bit ROCKED though!

We built the set this week - then took it all down again! The stage is needed for another company over the next couple of weeks and with Bruce on holiday for a couple of weeks, it was important to start this work early. So we put up the set and masking on the stage, whilst Charles and little Paul started on the 'wall' in the little Barn. It was great seeing them, and we made some small changes (moved an entrance, and some windows). Anyway the set was taken down to allow another group to use the stage for a while - then we build it again at the start of September.

Also, we tested out the front cloth as a projection screen and it was great. Richard and I now have to decide how we're going to do the prologue - I favour a movie of shapes and a fire with a mixture of live cast, Richard favours actors creating a shadow play from behind the screen. We also have yet to agree on music for the piece. I need to write this soon, so I want to get it agreed!

For the first time now, I am getting a sense of running out of time on the project. Holidays are getting in the way and we don't have that many rehearsals left now, at least that's how it seems!

Ticket sales are low. Very low. Please do all you can to sell the play. There are a lot of very talented people all working very hard to make this as good as it possibly can be, I believe this will be a special event at the Barn, and that it will be talked about for a long time to come! But then I am a bit biased!!

More photos are available here if you're interested!
